FIBER OPTIC TECHNICIAN/ENGINEER
Job description
Key Performance Indicators
- He/She will be executing R&D on RF / Fiber Optics / Copper network and technologies including but not limited to future technologies on Access/Core Network.
- Planning and Optimization including capacity planning of on various technologies.
- Integration of various technologies on Access and Core Network including Fiber Optics.
- Conducting and carrying out related training (in-house and/or out-house) and mentor junior staff members as required.
Other Responsibilities
- Responsible for client installations, including racking, cabling, splicing and termination.
- Coordinate fiber activities with other departments and Head of OSP construction.
- Perform break –outs on live fiber without affecting existing services.
- Terminate, splice, ground and test fiber optic installation to company standards
- Provide accurate equipment location, splicing and termination records for fiber database
- Assist contractors in training on various installation methods
- Monitor, communicate and perform corrective actions to fix problems affecting any fiber or fiber related equipment.
- Install demarcation enclosures and other telecom equipment.
- Work with following equipment , Fusion splicer , mechanical splicer , OTDR, Power meter, traffic identifiers, digital multi meter, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube caters, cable vile tools, duct roaders, ladder, bucket truck, etc in fiber and related works.
- Work night shifts and overtime when needed.
