The University of Dodoma invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the
following academic positions:-

1.0 Position: Lecturer: PUTS 3.3 (1 Position)
School of Environmental Sciences and Technology: One (1) position in Environmental
Sciences/Engineering.

1.1 Required qualifications
(i) Holder of a PhD degree from recognized institution plus a Master’s degree with a GPA
of 4.0 and above and an Upper Second Bachelor Degree with a GPA of 3.8 and above for
classified degrees and for unclassified degree an overall performance of B+ grade or
above. Both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees must be obtained from recognized
institutions

1.2 Duties and responsibilities
(i) To teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
(ii) To supervise research, theses and dissertation of postgraduate students;
(iii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students;
(iv) To conduct research, consultancy and public service;
(v) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

2.0 Position: Assistant Lecturer: PUTS 2.1 (19 Positions)

School of Business Studies: Five (5) positions in the following areas: - Marketing (2),
Quantitative Methods (1) and Business Administration (2).
School of Social Sciences: Two (2) positions) in the following areas: - Political Science (1) and
Sociology (1).
School of Humanities: One (1) position in the area of Chinese Language.
School of Informatics: One (1) position in the area of Health Information Systems or Health
Informatics.
School of Physical Sciences: Two (2) positions) in the following areas: Physics (1) and
Chemistry
School of Mathematical Sciences: Two (2) positions) in the following areas: Statistics (1)
and Mathematics (1).
School of Educational Studies: One (1) position in the area of Special Needs Education
(Visual Impairment).
School of Curriculum and Teacher Education: One (1) position in the area of Teaching
Methods (Science Subjects - Physics).
School of Nursing a nd Pu b l i c H e a l t h: T w o (2) positions in the following areas:
C r i t i c a l C a r e Nursing (1) and Mental Health Nursing (1).
School of Medicine and Dentistry: Two (2) positions in the following areas: Clinical
Pharmacology (1) and Pharmacy (1).

2.1 Required qualifications
(a) Holders of Master’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 plus at
least an Upper Second Bachelor Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8 and above for
classified degrees and for unclassified degree an overall of B+ grade or above.

(b) Holders of Masters Degrees by Research must have Bachelors degree with a
minimum GPA of 3.8 and above for classified degrees and for unclassified degrees an
overall of B+ grade or above. Both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees must be obtained
from recognized institutions.

2.2 Duties and responsibilities:
(i) To teach undergraduate courses;
(ii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students;
(iii) To conduct research, consultancy and public service;
(iv) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

3.0 Position: Tutorial Assistant: PUTS 1.1 – 1.3 (30 Positions)

School of Law: Two (2) positions in the area of Law.
School of Humanities: Three (3) positions in the following areas: - French (1) and Fine Art (2).
School of Virtual Education: One (1) position in the area of Education with Information
Technology and/or Multimedia Education.
School of Informatics: Three (3) positions in the following areas: Cyber/Information Security

(1), Health Information Systems/Health Informatics (1) and Business Information Systems (1).
School of Physical Sciences: One (1) position in the area of Forensic Chemistry.
School of Mathematical Sciences: One (1) position in the area of Actuarial Statistics.
School of Educational Studies: One (1) position in the area of Special Needs Education
School of Curriculum and Teacher Education: One (1) position in the area of Teaching
Methods (Linguistics – English Language).
School of Nursing a n d Pu b l i c H e a l t h : Fo u r (4) positions in the area of Nursing/
Midwifery.
School of Medicine and Dentistry: Six (6) positions) in the following areas: Biochemistry (2),
Physiology (2), Clinical Pharmacology (1) and Pharmacy (1).
School of Mines and Petroleum Engineering: Seven (7) positions in the following areas:
Geology (2), Petroleum /Chemical Engineering(1), Mining Engineering (2),Geo-informatics/
Geomatics (1) and Mineral Processing Engineering (1).
Required qualifications
Holders of First class or an Upper Second Class division Bachelors Degree with a GPA of

3.8 and above for classified degrees and an overall of B+ grade or above for unclassified
degrees from a recognized institution
Duties and responsibilities
This is a training post. Successful candidates will be involved in:
(i) Conducting Tutorials for undergraduate students;
(ii) Supervising seminars;
(iii) Teaching Certificates and Diploma Courses
(iv) Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

referees and mode of communication, e.g. telephone, fax and email).

 The title of the position and institution (school) applied for should be written in the
subject of the application letter and marked on the envelope; short of which will make the
application invalid.
 Applicants must attach their relevant certified copies of Academic/Professional certificates
i.e. Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma/Certificates and transcripts;
National Form IV and Form VI Examination Certificates; Computer Certificate.
 Professional certificates from respective boards; One recent passport size picture and birth
certificate.
 Form IV and VI results slips, Testimonials and Partial transcripts are strictlynot accepted
 Applicants employed by public institutions must route their application letters through
their respective employers.
 Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by Tanzania Commission for
Universities (TCU).
 Women are highly encouraged to apply.
 Application letters should be written in English.
 Only short listed candidates will be informed on a date for interview.
 Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV is a criminal
offence and will attract legal action.
