PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

ANGLO Gold Jobs

To support, develop and train an effective local team capable of delivering industry leading practices within an underground mine environment. In particular mine production activities related to planning & technical support functions. To achieve the

successful transition from an open pit to underground operation .

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree Certification as a Mining Engineer

Member of Professional Body

EXPERIENCE

BEng Mining / Engineering Degree or equivalent;

5 years' proven experience in mine production in underground mining environment of which at least three (3) years is at technical level within a production department.

High skill level with U/G mine planning software

Ability to create and manage budgets for a U/G operation.  5 years’ experience working with U/G mining contractors

Be physically fit and be able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations / screening;

Excellent Communication Skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1 to 2 years’ experience working with the P500 and Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives.

Worked in highly mechanised Underground operations.

Demonstrate knowledge in underground development and production management, surveying, geology, contract management,

Understands appropriate underground geotechnical evaluation methods. Associated with these methods advise the best practice drilling & blasting techniques to reduce blast damage and dilution in an underground mine environment.

Knows when to engage Specialists support.

Ability to interpret data to initiate and drive the operational improvements as required.

Underground Operational Management (Advanced Application)

Ability to effectively lead and communicate to all levels of the team.

Understands key processes and systems to drive the best performance from all team members

Planning (Advanced Application)

Demonstrate advance level of knowledge of planning systems and practices from long term to short term mine planning.

Understands advanced principles of underground mine design including production and development using highly mechanised underground trackless equipment, ventilation systems, production techniques.

Ability to generate annual mine budget that link into ore reserve calculations.

Establish and maintain processes to ensure the development of optimised short term, medium and long terms plans that ensure delivery of the budget requirements and the operations strategy.

Contract Management (Advanced Application)

Knowledge in contract management practices, technical consultants and operational mining contracts.

Project Management (Basic Application)

Understands AGA project management standards and has applied them in a minor project to conceptual level.

Ability to lead a minor project and interact with test work and engineering consultant service providers

Build and lead the mining planning and technical support teams and assist in the development of local engineers.

Establish and maintain processes to ensure that all environmental risks and emerging issues are identified and mitigation plans to put in place

Delivery

Establish and maintain processes to ensure the technical aspects of the operations which include mine planning, survey, fleet management, drill & blast, and have the required resources in place to support the mining operations.

Identify areas for improvement in operational blueprints (systems, processes, procedures & tasks) to ensure adherence to plan, reduce variation and maximise cost effective utilisation

Develop and implement systems to collect and manage operational data and to monitor performance

Establish and maintain systems for identifying opportunities to drive operational excellence

Ensure collaboration with all departments to achieve streamlined delivery to plan
