Reporting to: Environmental Officer
Work Schedule: 14 Days On/ 7 Days Off
Duration: Permanent
Responsibilities
Overall vector control activities around the site and other areas assigned by your supervisor.
Conduct the indoor residual spray (IRS) program at the mine as per the schedule.
Inspect the site for identification of mosquito breeding sites and implement larvae searching and Larvaciding application programs.
Undertake fogging activities as per the schedule.
Undertake other vector control activities including bee relocation, rats and cat control, etc.
Undertake site inspection and recording of wildlife sighted.
Undertake site inspection for vegetation growth and implement program to clear vegetation on various areas around the mine.
Ensure the building’s roofs and gutters are kept clear of vegetation.
Inspection of storm water drains and implementation of di-silting programs.
Deliver food and other organic waste to the compost area, and ensure it is maintained to the optimal conditions as per procedure.
Conduct a daily inspection of the waste facilities assigned to you and report non-conformance and waste hazards.
Take and keep records of all vector control activities and report to your supervisor
Conduct pre-start inspection of equipment and working tools prior operations.
Operate equipment and machine as per the operating standard.
Ensure all equipment’s are kept in good condition and report faults or breakdown to supervisor in a timely manner.
Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines
Conduct environmental monitoring fieldwork and any other duties assigned by the supervisor in a safe manner.
Qualification Requirements
Vector control training certificate from reputable institution
Certificate of Secondary Education
Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License (Preferably Class C, D, F and G), This is mandatory
Experience And Competencies Needed
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Vector Control and environmental field works in extractive industry
Previous experience in waste management activities
Driving skills will be added advantage.
Skills / Knowledge Requirements
Chemical Hazards Awareness
Fumigation and vector control activities
The use and operations of fumigation pumps
Operation of mowers
Hazard identification and Risk assessment
Reasonable level of accuracy and record keeping
Reasonable communication skills in both English and Swahili (speaking, reading and writing)
Basic computer skills
General safety awareness
