Project Concern International (PCI) is an American Non-Governmental Organization legally registered in Tanzania under the Companies Act and in compliance with NGO Act of 2002 through Certificate number 00001392. PCI has been working in Tanzania since 2011 under the tripartite agreement with the Government of Tanzania, signed by President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education. In partnership with the Government of Tanzania and local communities, PCI is implementing a Food for Education (FFE) program in 221 primary schools in the Districts of Musoma, Butiama and Bunda in Mara Region. The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

PCI has partnered with DreamStart Labs (DSL) of the USA to implement DreamSave savings and lending (VSL) groups’ mobile technology pilot project in Musoma. The pilot project will be implemented from January 01, 2017 - March 31, 2018 by PCI Tanzania staff with technical support from PCI - USA and DSL respectively.

PCI Tanzania is announcing an immediate position for Tanzania nationals of a DreamSave Pilot Project Support Officer at its Musoma Regional Office. Reporting to the Women Empowered Program Coordinator, the incumbent will support the implementation of DreamSave pilot project in the field and act as a direct link between groups participating in the project with PCI in Tanzania and USA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide interpretation services for PCI and DreamStart Labs during field visits
  • Translate interview guides, protocol, prototypes and project other materials
  • Plan regular visits to pilot groups and be first point of contact for communities, providing timely support to groups the duration of the pilot project
  • Organize notes and observations from pilot group visits and transfer back to PCI and DSL
  • Work with PCI Tanzania’s IT unit to provide first line of troubleshooting with prototypes

Qualifications
  • Advanced diploma or University degree in Social Sciences, Education or other relevant field
  • Experience in providing technical support to community level development and social welfare interventions
  • Strong understanding and up-to-date technical knowledge of best practices in savings and lending field
  • Fluency in Swahili and English, experience in providing translation services for rural based interventions
  • Familiarity of social-economic environment and working experience of Mara, Tanzania, is an added advantage
