ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Tanzanian Joint Venture JUMEME RURAL POWER SUPPLY LTD. was established by the partners INENSUS
GmbH (Germany), TERRAPROJECTS (Austria) and ST. AUGUSTINE UNIVERSITY OF TANZANIA (Tanzania) as a microutility
with the aim to implement and operate Solar-Hybrid Mini-Grids (solar PV, battery, diesel) in remote
settlements in Tanzania providing reliable, affordable and clean electricity to businesses and small industries,
households, and public infrastructures.
JUMEME is seeking highly motivated personnel that will help scaling up the business and achieving the company’s
goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Employee will work under the supervision of the Project Engineer and is responsible for:
 Oversee all activities related to installation and commissioning of all Mini-Grid assets.
 Develop concepts for integration of productive loads into the Mini-Grid systems including load and
demand management strategies for reasons of system stability.
 Organize logistics prior to system installation including shipment of components, transport to and storage
on site, protection of the assets throughout the delivery and installation process.
 Supervise and manage all construction activities on site including works for the power house, support
structures for the solar PV, the distribution grid, etc.
 Organize and perform the collection, assessment and communication of economic and technical data
relevant for productive users (e.g. prices of electric motors and machines, technical limitations of
motors, local market prices for services and products).
 Support the selection of suitable suppliers for electric motors and other equipment needed for
productive users.
 Supervise the installation of service line and electric meter connecting the productive use customers to
the electric grid.
 Supervise the indoor electrical installation at workshops of productive users, including but not limited to
the installation of electrical motors and the connection to the machines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
 Professional qualifications must include a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical or
Electrical Engineering
 Ideal professional experience includes: having worked at least one year with experience in the
energy/rural electrification sector and/or the telecom sector in Tanzania.
 Technical background knowledge of solar PV systems, large battery systems (especially lead acid
technology), diesel generators including control panels, medium voltage and low voltage distribution
networks
 Exceptional written and oral communication abilities in English and Kiswahili
 Good computer skills, particularly MS Office and common engineering software
 Ability and readiness to travel regularly to rural areas and to work under challenging conditions
 Ability and readiness to work independently, yet with profound team spirit
 Ability and readiness to work under pressure and in flexible working hours
