Social and Behavior Change Communication Advisor

ROLE PURPOSE: 

Save the Children seeks a Social and Behavior Change Communication Advisor who will serve on the upcoming Tanzania Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity (MSNA) Program. This program, funded by USAID, will intensify and integrate nutrition support to targeted regions of Tanzania, in order to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age, especially pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, and children under five years of age.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE



  • Master’s degree preferably in communication or marketing; or social science such as sociology, anthropology; will accept degrees in other fields if there is evidence of sustained experience in the fields noted above;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in social and behavior change related work, including but not limited to strategic, development communications or campaigns, or commercial marketing/advertising. Preference preferably in the field of nutrition or in associated development areas of health or agriculture;
  • Experience necessary in creative, strategic communication design and media/materials development (mobile phones, print and/or television). This includes pre-testing and production of communications materials;
  • Work experience at the community level in programs that require active engagement with families and the community;
  • Knowledge of the public and private sector (marketing/advertising) communication landscape in Tanzania;
  • Experience with the design and implementation of qualitative anthropological/sociological research and /or communication monitoring and evaluation a plus;
  • History of engagement with USAID or development donor funded initiatives is highly desirable;
  • Fluency in Swahili and excellent written and verbal English language skills;
  • Extensive experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa; work experience in Tanzania highly desirable; and

Finance Director

ROLE PURPOSE:  

Save the Children seeks a Finance Director for the anticipated USAID-funded Multi-sectoral Nutrition Activity in Tanzania to be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial and administrative management and compliance, as well as other operational duties. Reporting to the Chief of Party (COP) s/he will provide day-to-day financial technical assistance to the COP for the administration of the grant. S/he will ensure strict adherences to financial regulations and grant compliance requirements during the implementation of the grant. S/he will manage the implementation of accounting systems, budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting for both the prime recipient and any sub-awards. S/he will also oversee grant management and reporting on financial program performance as well as provide financial and technical management to ensure the best use of resources by preparing sound budgets, monitoring project expenses, and ensuring timely preparation of donor financial reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


  • Advanced degree in finance, or other relevant field; professional qualification in Accounting desired;
  • Minimum five years’ experience managing finance for USAID-funded projects; in-depth knowledge of USAID financial management rules and regulations;
  • Proven ability to prepare budgets and donor financial reports; 
  • Strong analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations;
  • Experience as a coach/mentor to train staff and develop financial skills of colleagues;
  • Experience managing and monitoring sub-awards, including with local partners; 
  • Demonstrated capacity and prior experience in managing the personnel, administrative and logistical functions of programs and projects;
  • Proven experience building the capacity of local NGOs and government bodies and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required;
  • Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context of Tanzania is preferred.
