WWF-Tanzania Country Office (WWF-TCO) is seeking to hire the "Communication Officer" to be based at WWF Tunduru Office.

Main Task 
Under the technical guidance of Communications Manager and support from programme coordinators The Communications Officer will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of outputs under the SIDA CSO Programme that are related to awareness-raising, communications and capacity strengthening in general; facilitating sharing knowledge, raising awareness and increase the programme visibility in the Ruvuma Landscape, partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders on issues relating to conservation of natural resources.

Specific Tasks 
The Incumbent will work closely with the Communications manager to execute the following tasks: Ensure that relevant program materials such as Human Interest Stories, donor reports, proposals, factsheets, infographs etc. are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels. The Communications Officer will assist WWF program officers in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.

Develop and maintain contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets (print, TV, radio, web etc.) within and outside Tanzania to increase coverage of conservation issues in the media (print, broadcast and digital). Specific activities may include: • Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials. • Collaborate with the media by organizing project site visits; facilitate photo coverage and TV footage and utilizing both web-based and traditional media as appropriate. Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials. Maintain a library of media coverage, clippings etc.

Manage the Selous-Niassa Wildlife Corridor web site to ensure it has updated contents of appropriate and very high quality materials that convey the essence and significance of the corridor in ensuring connectivity of the two protected areas in Tanzania and Mozambique.

Required Qualifications:
Relevant University, level qualification in the field of Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations and Development is required. Natural resources conservation knowledge will be an added advantage. At least five years of similar work experience is required.
