The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development (MLHHSD) with the support from the UK Department for International Development (DFID), Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is implementing a three-year Land Tenure Support Programme (LTSP) which focuses on land tenure regularization, enhancement of land sector transparency, promotion of large scale land-based investment and policy and institutional development in Kilombero, Ulanga and Malinyi Districts in Morogoro Region. The Ministry is seeking to recruit qualified and motivated Tanzanians to fill some vacant positions as part Time Staff in the Land Tenure Support Programme in the Programme Districts.


The Ministry of Lands is hereby invites qualified candidates to submit their applications
for the following positions:-

1. Land Officer (8 Posts)
Reporting to: The Team Leader Land Tenure Regularization and will work under the supervision of the District Land Officer

Duties and Responsibilities


  • To assist generally with the work of the District Land Officer (DLO) within district land office should the need arise.
  • To assist DLO during the Village adjudication in the sensitization and awareness rising at the Village level.
  •  To assist DLO during the village adjudication in preparation of training materials and facilitating training of field teams.
  • To assist the DLO with verification of systematic adjudication records.
  • To assist the DLO during the village adjudication in resolving land disputes between land owners by providing them with education on land rights according to the village land act or using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
  • To assist the DLO in the Quality check of data entered in the CCROs Database prior to final printing of CCROs
  • To assist the DLO in the registration and Issuance of CCROs.
  • To assist the DLO in the proper up keep and administration of District Land Registry 


Qualification and Experience

  • Holder of BSc. Degree in Land Management and Valuation from the recognized institution; with proven competency in the following requirements:
  • Communication skills - ability to communicate professionally and effectively in verbal and written English and Kiswahili.
  • In-depth understanding of the Tanzania land laws and the ability to explain it to land owners at village level.
  • Impartiality and ability to treat land owners/villagers-in a non-judgmental way.
  • At least one year of demonstrated work experience in delivering creative, cutting edge technology of working in similar projects. The experience may be gained through a combination of short-term paid employment, volunteer, placement or internship positions.
