EMPLOYMENT VACANCIES

Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of maintenance and development of Trunk and Regional Roads Networks in Tanzania Mainland. Apart from this, it is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridges.

As a measure to strengthen capacity of discharging TANROADS’ functions effectively, the Regional Manager’s Office – TANROADS Mwanza seeks to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian Citizens to fill the vacancies at its office.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the various vacancies in the region on Contract terms (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Appointment will be on Contract Terms of two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

1. POSITION TITLE: DRIVER – (3 VACANCIES)

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Successful applicants must be ready to work on all working days and some times during Weekends and Public Holidays. They should be willing to work for consider-able lengths of time when required under minimum supervision.

POSITION RELATIONSHIP:
The Position Holder shall report to the Head of Accounts and Administration Unit.

1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   The holder of this post will be responsible for carrying out activities as described in TANROADS Job Description manual.

(a) Driving motor vehicles of the Regional Manager’s Office

(b) Keeps vehicle movement records in logbook;

(c) Deliver and collect mail as directed by responsible officers;

(d) Inspects the vehicle before and after use in order to identify defects that may need maintenance or repairs;

(e) Ensures scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance of the vehicle are timely done &

(f) Performing any other such related duties as assigned by Regional Manager.

1. PERSON REQUIRED

• Education and Professional qualifications – Holder of Ordinary Secondary Education, Must be a holder of Class D driving license or higher;
• Practical experience: At least two years driving experience.
• Not above 35 years of Age.

2. POSITION TITLE: SHIFT INCHARGE – (1 VACANCY)

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Successful applicants must be ready to work on all working days and some times during Weekends and Public Holidays. They should be willing to work for considerable lengths of time when required under minimum supervision.

POSITION RELATIONSHIP:
• The Position Holder shall report to the Head of Accounts and Administration Unit.

1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   The holder of this post will be responsible for carrying out activities as described in TANROADS Job Description manual.

(a) Enforcing Road traffic axle load control.

(b) Overall supervision of the shift activities.

(c) Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles.

(d) Measuring physical dimension of Motor Vehicle or any load being carried on the Motor Vehicle and cause to seek a special permit to transporters in case of non compliance with vehicle dimensions limit.

(e) Ascertain compliance to the abnormal load permit and report any discrepancy to the Regional Manager for the appropriate action.

(f) Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Regional Manager.

B.PERSON REQUIRED

• Age between 35 and 40 years.
• Education and Professional qualifications – Holder of First degree in civil, Highway, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

3. POSITION TITLE: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – (1 VACANCY)

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Successful applicants must be ready to work on all working days and some times during weekends and public holidays. They should be willing to work for considerable lengths of time when required under minimum supervision.

POSITION RELATIONSHIP:
The Position Holder shall report to the Head of Engineering Unit.

A: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carrying out activities as described in the TANROADS Job Description manual.

The major duties shall include the following:

• Assists with in site testing and site sampling;
• conducting laboratory tests;
• Cleans and maintains Laboratory equipment in good order;
• Records test results and site samples ;
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned by this/her principals including the Regional Manager.

  C: KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Holder of Certificates of Secondary Education Exam (CSEE)
  2. Holder of Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  3. Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
  4. Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  5. Not above 35 years of age.
  4. POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Auxiliary Technicians – (2 VACANCIES)
  SCOPE OF POSITION:
  Successful applicants must be ready to work on all working days and some times during Weekends and Public Holidays. They should be willing to work for considerable lengths of time when required under minimum supervision.
  POSITION RELATIONSHIP:
  The Position Holder shall report to the Head of Engineering Unit.
  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  The holder of this post will be responsible for carrying out activities as described in TANROADS Job Description manual.
  • Assist in Carrying out in situ testing and takes site samples;
  • Assist in undertaking regional laboratory tests;
  • Recording test results;
  • Cleaning laboratory apparatus, equipment and premises in good order
  • Performing such other related duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor from time to time.
  B: OTHERS:
  1. Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  2. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Regional Manager
  KEY QUAUFICATIONS:
  • Holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education Exam (CSEE)
  • Holder of A Full Technicians’ Certificate (FTC).
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  • Not above 35 years of age.
  REMUNERATIONS:
  A competitive remuneration and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidates for the above positions.
