Paediatrician

Position: Paediatrician
Duty Station: DCMC Dodoma
Reports to: Executive Medical Officer
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing health care from birth to early adulthood. S/he will be concerned with the health of infants, children, and teenagers. S/he is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of ailments specific to young people and track their patients’ growth to adulthood.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Examine young patients and ordering tests accordingly.
· Perform tests such as X-rays, blood sampling or other matter tests.
· Interpret results and determining the right diagnosis.
· Recommend treatment adapted to the age and the development of the patient.
· Perform regular check-ups in order to assess the growth and evolution of the child.
· Collect and interpret patient information related to his or her medical history.
· Offer advice to parents and patients related to diets and hygiene in order to prevent diseases.
· Monitor patients’ health and refer them to a specialist if necessary.
· Provide vaccinations and prescribe medication; order and analyze diagnostic tests; perform well baby and child physical examinations and document progress
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and Experience:
Holder of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree or equivalent specializing in pediatrics from accredited institution.
Must be registered with relevant Authority
At least five (5) years working experience in a busy child care Clinic setup.

Ophthalmic Nursing Officer

Position: Ophthalmic Nursing Officer
Duty Station: DCMC Dodoma
Reports to: Executive Medical Officer
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for provision holistic ophthalmic nursing services to both inpatient and out patients within the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The nurse shall work in the eye ward/eye clinic as assigned and shall therefore work as both supervisor and team leader to the ophthalmic assistant/s and auxiliary staff.
Prepare for and assist the Senior Ophthalmologist during the ward rounds and whenever required.
Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient’s charts/ files.
Arrange and submit weekly ward work schedules and plan daily duties and responsibilities for each staff under their supervision.
Convene eye ward meetings and attend monthly hospital meetings.
Participate in camp eye health surveys/campaigns
Maintain equipment in good working condition and submit regular inventory reports of the same.
Maintain drug registers and oversee drug consumption within the ward and clinic.
Ensure that all admissions, discharges, transfers and deaths are properly documented as they occur.
Report any significant changes in operations to the senior ophthalmologist.
Maintain nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations.
Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and Experience:
Holder of Bachelor degree or equivalent in Nursing from accredited and recognized Nursing institution.
Must be registered with Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council
At least five (5) years working experience in a busy eye hospital/ Clinic setup.

Position: Chief of Community Health

Reports to: DCMCT Director
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of Research and Community Health Activities in DCMC Supported health facilities. S/he will be in charge of the overall management and implementation of the research community health programs related to DCMC
Personal Attributes:
Ability to develop in-depth community health knowledge and be familiar with principles of community Management and health reforms
Critical Management Skills of transformation leadership, Action planning, Performance and total Quality Management, Decision making, Problem Solving and Change Management
Duties and Responsibilities:
· To plan, coordinate and supervise all Community Health Projects/Programs.
· To coordinate and carry out epidemiological studies and identify the prevalent health problems in the community and ways to control them.
· To coordinate collection and analysis of health data through field research, observational studies
· To ensure availability of accurate, up to date, complete, comprehensive and timely information on epidemiological and demographic indicators – collected, collated, analyzed and interpreted at various health system levels.
· To develop the spirit of team-work in promoting health in all population groups.
· To co-ordinate training programs of various cadres of medical personnel in DCMC supported facilities
· To organize consultant clinics on endemic diseases in the Teaching Hospitals.
· To liaise with outside agencies on all matters related to the basic concept of community health.
· To prepare and develop staff training programs in the department
· Preparing and coordinating departmental work plans
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and Experience:
· Medical doctors with Masters in community Health with Epidemiology from a recognized institution
· Registered in respective authority
· At least five (5) years working experience in busy multidisciplinary environments (Research Institution/reputable hospital) in a developing country
· PhD Holder in Epidemiology or Public Health with demonstrated research by publication is an added Advantage
