Job description
The Zonal Head role will involve managing all activities for the procurement of cotton in Tanzania. This includes primary procurement of seed cotton and managing all contract farming. It’s a well-rounded role that gives the
experience of managing a large & complex business in one of the fastest growing regions.
Key Performance Matrices include:
- Design, implement and manage the procurement strategy for cotton with the respective teams below him/her to drive & deliver procurement volumes as well as market shares as per business plan.
- Responsible for both primary procurement and contract farming models for buying
- Interface with competitors and other ginners for lint trading offers and information, support the trading team by providing adequate and timely market information
- Manage all agents, buyers, route officers and area coordinators for procurement
- Ensure strict adherence to all the laid down systems and procedures without exception
- Ensure that all the direct and indirect costs for the business are within budgets
- Represent Olam Tanzania Ltd. and interface with appropriate regulatory bodies for obtaining permissions and approvals.
- Eliminate controllable losses & minimize the impact of non-controllable losses
- Capability building amongst staff for procurement
Requirements:
- MBA with 3 – 5 years of post-qualification industry experience. Non MBA with at-least 7 years of managerial experience in an independent role.
- Prior experience in handling of agri commodities – both procurement and processing – is a must.
- Experience of working in primary procurement – such as cotton, pigeon peas, sesame, rice, sunflower, and so on, will be an advantage.
