The Foundation for African Medicine & Education (FAME) is a nonprofit organization working to promote quality and equitable healthcare in rural Tanzania. FAME operates a referral hospital and community health programs serving thousands of patients each year and engages U.S.-based supporters through events, campaigns, and strategic communications.
Position Overview
FAME is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Development & Events Coordinator to support donor management, event logistics and fundraising campaign execution during a busy spring season. This short-term, 3-month role will play a key operational role in ensuring smooth donor stewardship, successful fundraising events and coordinated campaign execution. The ideal candidate is systems-oriented, proactive, comfortable managing logistics independently and confident working in Bloomerang or similar CRM platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Weekly Donation Monitoring & CRM Management (Ongoing)
Estimated 1–2 hours weekly (consistent cadence)
- Enter all offline donations into Bloomerang (FAME’s donor CRM)
- Enter eligible donations into the Thank You Notes tracking document
- Ensure accurate donor records and timely acknowledgement tracking
- Complete this process on a consistent weekly schedule (likely Fridays)
2. FAME Spring Fundraising Tour (April & May 2026)
Estimated 4–6 hours/week in April & May
- Draft and send invitations for tour events
- Pull donor lists from Bloomerang based on geography and relevant criteria
- Manage RSVP tracking and guest lists
- Create event pages and fundraising campaigns in Bloomerang
- Track event-specific donations
- Coordinate thank-you and follow-up communications post-event
- Assist with travel logistics (flights, accommodations) as needed
3. April Spotlight Webinar Series
Estimated 4 hours/week in April
- Work directly with the Managing Director to identify topic, structure and discussion flow
- Coordinate with Tanzania-based team members to confirm availability
- Schedule webinar date/time
- Create presentation slides
- Draft and send invitations and follow-up emails
- Manage backend tech during the webinar
- Support speaker preparation
4. FAME Marathon Campaign Preparation (Event: June 14, 2026)
Estimated 4 hours/week in May
- Collaborate with Digital Media Manager on campaign themes, messaging and posting strategy
- Help develop fundraising campaign messaging and structure
- Draft newsletters and mass email campaigns
- Build campaign donation pages in Bloomerang
- Support campaign launch preparation
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience with donor CRMs
- Experience supporting fundraising campaigns and/or nonprofit events
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple timelines
- Comfort working independently
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms, basic presentation design and Zoom for large webinars
- Experience booking travel logistics is a plus
Schedule & Work Structure
- Average 12–15 hours per week
- Flexible schedule with some required availability during event weeks
- Weekly donation processing should occur on a consistent day each week
- Remote, hybrid, or in-person (Cambridge office available)
Compensation & Compliance
This is a temporary, part-time position.
Compensation range: $20–$25 per hour, in compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency requirements. Final rate will be determined based on experience and qualifications. This position does not include benefits.
