An experienced heavy equipment operator is required for Gold ore project at Ngwala Gold Mining (NGM) Songwe Region far away from shanta gold mining, north-west near Ngwala Prison. An experienced operator is required to operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
Main Activities
Main Activities
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
- Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Participate in routine maintenance
- Practice workplace safety
- Attending daily, weekly, and monthly toolbox meetingRequired qualification/skills/knowledgeQualifications
- Secondary school certificate/ vocational training/ college training in heavy equipment operation
- At least 2 years previous experience in mining and construction projects in a similar roles
- Please note, multi-skilled operators have an added advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license
Knowledge/ Skills
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge/skills in the following areas: - Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
- Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, motor graders, rigs, crane, wheel loader, excavator, roller, truck and other pieces of heavy equipment
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
- Knowledge of mining construction and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Knowledge of record keeping system
- Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures
- Aptitude for mechanics and able to handle machinery
- Physically fit
- Willing to work in remote areas under difficult conditions
- Able to record details accurately
- Clean police record
- Be 18 years old (as it is a legal requirement on most mine and quarry sites)
- Have a drug and alcohol clearance
- Pass a medical examination.
- Working Conditions
The role will be based on a 42/14 roster; applicants MUST have previous experience in operating heavy equipment machine and within a mining production environment to apply for these roles.
