DEPUTY REGISTRAR/ EAST AFRICAN COURT OF JUSTICE (REF: EAC/HR/2017-18/06)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate Judicial Administration;
Develop and facilitate implementation of Court process services procedures;
Maintain judgment Register and ensure compilation and circulation of judgments;
Process matters requiring the official seal of the Court and issue hearing notices;
Draft Court Orders from Rulings and Decrees in accordance with the final decisions made by the Court and maintain the register of Orders and Decrees given by the Court;
Receive and verify pleadings and ensure that they are presented in accordance with the Rules of the Court;
Tax bills of costs and ensure execution of Orders;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Registrar.

Qualifications and Experience:
Masters in Law (LLM) from a recognized University;
At least 10 years of experience in the management of Court functions, five (5) of which should be at senior management level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Secretarial services to Committees of the Assembly
Keep custody of Journals of the Assembly
Prepare Order Papers, Votes and Proceedings, Motions and Questions
Clerk at the Table
Draft amendments to Bills
Provide advice to the Speaker and Members on legislative procedures.
Conduct Procedural Research
Conduct relevant research and studies for Committees in liaison with the Research Office
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor's University Degree in Public Administration, Law, Social Sciences or related field;
Post graduate qualifications in any of theabove fields and specialized training in Parliamentary procedures and knowledge of the operations of a regional Parliament will be an added advantage;

Main purpose of the Job:
The Hansard Editor is the overall in charge of the Hansard department who will control and manage the department for effective and efficient discharge of producing accurate and timely Official Report (Hansard) of the proceedings of the East African Legislative Assembly and of the Committees. He/she is responsible for the entire report production process from Recording of the proceedings to Editorial, printing, publishing, Publication and Reporting.

HANSARD REPORTER (1 Post) (REF: EAC/HR/2017-18/09)

Duties and responsibilities:
Record proceedings of the Assembly.
Transcribe recordings of the Assembly's proceedings from audio recordings.
Compile the transcripts from a series of recorded materials during Sittings of the Assembly.
Conduct the first edit of transcripts as per the requirements of the Hansard Reporting Guidelines.
To compile a contribution log of proceedings.
Monitor the use and ensure maintenance of all sound/public address systems.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication; Linguistics or a related field.
Minimum working experience of five (5) years as a Hansard Reporter/Assistant Editor or Court Transcriber.
