Tala is looking for a highly motivated Operations Manager to help us build and lead a world-class office in Tanzania. Tala is a world leader in providing direct loans in emerging markets. As the Operations Manager, you will work with the operations, people, and finance teams. The roles’ focus is to support the growth of the local office and ensure that we are a well functioning organization. A successful candidate will manage with empathy and understand the importance of both collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities:
The Business Operations Manager will oversee all areas of operations to ensure our stability as we grow in Tanzania

Operations Management
•    Manage vendors to ensure our business stays compliant
•    Ensure issues/potential issues with vendors have been identified, communicated and solved
•    Coordinate with rails provider to identify and solve tech and ops issues
•    Manage finance and accounting work, including funds cycling, payments, tax reporting to ensure the smooth process of money flow
•    Ensure that Tala remains compliant with regulations in terms of taxes, reporting and business license
•    Manage People Operations for onboarding new members in TZ office
•    Maintain current Tala office space & manage relationship with landlord

Requirements:
•    5+ Years running operations for small or medium sized companies
•    Attention to details with sense of urgency in the work
•    Clear and transparent communication
•    Adept problem-solving skills
•    Living or working experience in the Tanzania
•    Fluency in Swahili and English
•    Ability to work in a dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to change and re-prioritize

Preferred Skills & Experience:
•    Experience in FinTech, Consumer Finance or a similar industry
•    Previous experience with vendor management
•    Managed operations at a high-growth company
