Project Manager – One year Contract at NMB Bank Plc 2017
Job Purpose:
The incumbent that we are looking will be responsible to:
- Manage the entire project lifecycle covering the initiating, planning, monitoring, controlling and closing process groups in deploying a new Internet Banking Platform.
- Thorough cleanup of Customer Master Data and re – engineering of account opening process into a new model that offers a consistent and improved experience across various channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiating
- Prepare the project charter and coordinate its review and approval by the project sponsor and other key stakeholders.
- Develop the project business case and co-ordinate its review and approval.
- Establish the requisite resource requirements for the project and motivate for their allocation.
- Establish the relevant governance structures for the project.
- Identify project stakeholders and determine their expectations, level of influence and impact.
Planning
- Determine detailed requirements and develop the business requirements document.
- Define the project scope and determine the applicable project management processes based on the project context.
- Develop the project management plan and all its constituent baselines and management plans.
- Coordinate review and approval of the integrated project management plan.
Project Execution, Monitoring, & Controlling
- Serve diligently as chairperson of the project working committee and secretary to the project steering committee.
- Acquire, direct and motivate the project team.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an on-going basis.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions by ensuring proper recording, assignment, ownership and timely escalation to the appropriate level of management where necessary.
- Communicate progress to relevant stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Analyse and evaluate project performance and institute corrective measures in the event of any deviations.
- Evaluate project team and individual performance
- Manage changes to project baselines (scope, budget, and schedule) in line with the agreed changed control process.
- Influence factors that cause changes
- Manage the performance of third party vendors and contractors
- Control the project budget and provide regular reports on project financials
Acceptance Testing
- Recruitment of the Test Manager.
- Development of the test strategy and plan in conjunction with the Test Manager.
- Coordinate development of test cases and scenarios.
- Assemble and facilitate training of the testing team.
- Organize for availability of relevant testing resources e.g. test environment, facilities etc.
- Responsible for planning and management of all logistics associated with acceptance testing.
- Oversee the execution of system integration testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing, failover tests, regression testing and live proving.
- Obtain sign offs for test results.
Project Closure
- Facilitate project closure workshops and ensure lessons learned are identified and recorded.
- Produce a project closure report and secure its approval from relevant project executives.

Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a University Degree in Business Administration, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Project Management, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field.Sound Project Management background and practical application in a busy large corporate setting.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in managing large IT and Data Management projects.
- Successful completion of at least 2 large IT and Data Management projects
- Certification in project management methodologies or its equivalent e.g. PRINCE2, CAPM, PMP etc.
- Advanced understanding of banking operations and information systems.
