Background- Establishment of a work plan, with clear key results
- Effective supervision through knowledge sharing and performance/development feedback throughout the assignment

- Participation in a two-week long Programme Policy and Operations Induction Course in New York within the first 3 to 6 months of assignment
- Use of yearly JPO duty-related travel and training allocation (DTTA), as per the online DTTA guide
- Other training and learning opportunities, as presented in the UNDP JPO Orientation Programme
- Provide substantive inputs in supporting human rights based development and implementation of the democratic governance programme and projects through technical briefing notes and policy analysis and strengthening south-south cooperation;
- Provide logistical, technical and organizational capacity to support implementing partners’ communication and reporting on the programmatic portfolio;
- Effective project management and reporting through monitoring of budgets, activities preparing progress reports and implementation reports.
- Provide substantive inputs in supporting human rights based development and implementation of access to justice and human rights project through technical briefing notes and policy analysis and strengthening south-south cooperation;
- Provide logistical, technical and organizational capacity to support implementing partners’ communication and reporting on the Access to Justice and Human Rights Project;
- Effective project management and reporting through monitoring of budgets, activities preparing progress reports and implementation reports.
- Provide substantive inputs to communication of activities, results etc. in the area democratic governance, including through media engagement, website stories, social media and specialist for a;
- Provide logistical, technical and organizational capacity to nurturing existing partnerships and developing new partnerships with multiple stakeholders;
- Provide logistical, technical and organizational capacity to implementation of the Country Office Resource Mobilization Action plan in the area of Democratic Governance;
- Provide support and contribute to policy analysis, research and lessons learnt through preparation and review of UNDP networks, publications and other bilateral fora.
- Preparation of briefing notes and contribution to policy briefs will support programme management and CO senior management.
- Provide logistical, technical and organizational capacity to support representation and coordination in UNDAP II Thematic Results Group for Democratic Governance, Human Rights and Gender Equality as well as Development Partners Governance Working Group.
- Provide substantial inputs to integrating cross-cutting priorities, incl. gender equality, human rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), throughout full project cycle in the democratic governance programme;
- Provide substantial inputs to integrating cross-cutting priorities, incl. gender equality and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the full project cycle of the Access to Justice and Human Rights Project;
- Provide substantive inputs to integrating cross-cutting priorities, incl. gender equality and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into communication, partnerships and resource mobilization in the area of Democratic Governance;
- Provide substantive inputs to integrating cross-cutting priorities, incl. gender equality and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into coordination, policy analysis and knowledge management related to Democratic Governance.

- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) - Knowledge of M&E principles and policies and the ability to apply in strategic and/or practical situations.
- Operational effectiveness - Ability to support operational effectiveness in the delivery of programme and projects.
- Master’s Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in a related field of expertise, such as law, human rights, political science, public administration, development studies, international affairs. Degree in law and/or human rights is an asset.
- A minimum of two years of paid working experience in a field relevant to democratic governance;
- Demonstrated understanding of democratic governance. Specific knowledge in area of access to justice and human rights is an asset;
- Knowledge development contexts preferably Tanzania or East Africa region. On-the-ground work experience in developing countries preferably in East Africa region is an asset;
- Understanding of United Nations and preferably UNDP policy and programmatic approaches, including Results Based Management and Human Rights Based Approach to Development;
- Knowledge of cross-cutting, including gender equality, human rights and Sustainable Development Goals;
- Fluency in both Danish and English
- Knowledge of any other UN language is an asset
- Knowledge of Kiswahili is an asset
- Required computer skills in a standardized language
- Under the UNDP JPO Programme framework, the following position is open only to Danish nationals and permanent residents of Denmark.
