Context and environment
There has been a British Council presence inTanzania since 1947. English Language Teaching forms a major part of theoperational strategy with offers available for young learners, adults andcorporate studentsThe Teaching Centre team consists of a Centre Manager,an Academic Programme Manager and currently 5 other teachers, Registrar, aBusiness Development Manager and a Customer Services Team.

The Teaching Centre operates all year round. Wehave approximately 400 students per term.

Accountabilities
The post holder will supportBritish Council’s global English strategy by:
  • delivering teaching to thehighest standards of English Language Teaching
  • enhancing British Council’sreputation as a world authority in English Language Teaching
  • continuing professionaldevelopment and sharing of best practices
Responsibilities
  • Ensuring teaching meetslearner needs and expectations.
  • Ensuring teaching meets qualitystandards and organisational expectations
  • Maintaining goodrelationships with customers and colleagues
  • Supporting the teachingcentre’s activities and British Council plans
Main duties
  • Plan, prepare and deliverhigh quality English language teaching that meets the needs of differentcustomer groups
  • Monitor progress and provideregular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course,and actively promote learner autonomy
  • Complete teachingrelated administrative tasks to specified standards
  • Actively engage inprofessional development to ensure quality and high standards in teaching andlearning.
  • At all times deliverexcellent customer service
