MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Primary responsibilities of the materials development specialist include assisting in various process of the operational of the development instructional and learning materials that include the existing early grade reading and writing curricula in the development of new various reading and arithmetic materials in Kiswahili  for students from pre- primary  to grade 4, student writing journals and the accompanying  teachers reading and writing guides. The position will be based in the USAID Tusome pamoja project office in Dar es Salaam and will be reporting directly to the senior reading specialist with matrix reporting to the Room to Read Tanzania Country Director. The length of contract will be 12 months the incumbent will works approximately 260 days in a year
PRIMARY DUTIES
·         Coordinating the process of the curriculum and material as well as revision when needed in a collaboration with project and project personnel
·         Provide day to day support illustrator graphic  designer and curriculum developers to ensure high quality of the materials developed
·         Assist in developing of pre-primary teaching and learning arithmetic materials and accompanying teachers guide for arithmetic
·         Participate in all required tusome pamoja meeting workshop and reviewers
·         Work closely with printers during the productions of book dummies
·         Submit materials to Tanzania institute of Education that require  governance approval
·         Receive contractors invoices and prepare certificates of completion approval
QUALIFICATIONS
o   Bachelor degree in Education, curriculum development or related field
o   In depth understanding  education system in Tanzania
o   Adept at using computer software such as excel, world and power point
o   Good command of written and speaking English
o   Knowledge and experience of printing and publication process
o   Manuscript edition designing and layout experienced
o   Workshop facilitation and training skills
o   Mult task skills
o   Willing and able to work in fast-paced , growth oriented environment
o   Flexible attitude towards changing priorities and ability to multi task
PREFERD 
3-4 years experience in educational material development preferably an international NGO environment or publishing house
