ANGALIA NAFASI ZA KAZI NA AJIRA LEO Director of Global Influence and Partnerships , Plan International

To truly transform children’s lives, Plan International is changing fast. You can be a driving force behind that change, in this brand new role on our Executive Team. Our mission is children’s rights, with a special focus on girls and disadvantaged children. We want you to broaden and strengthen Plan International’s voice and influence on the global stage – taking our strategic impact to a whole new level.
About us
Globally, Plan International is one of the top 5 INGOs in terms of size and reach. Supported by our Federation of 21 fundraising national offices, we work in over 80 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas to promote child rights, and lift millions of children and their communities out of poverty.
The role
Plan International has an enviable record of delivering projects and programmes all over the world. We are especially proud of our long-running ‘Because I am a girl’ campaign, which has become ingrained in our DNA and central to our whole vision and purpose. At the same time, we know that by adopting a more planned, joined-up and strategic approach to these projects, we can make a more meaningful, further-reaching overall impact.
You will focus on raising Plan International’s profile as the NGO to consult on children’s issues (especially girls) – for example through increasing our influence within the EU, UN and World Bank. You will seek to secure and promote effective global strategic partnerships with multilateral agencies, foundations, civil society organisations and corporate partners. In addition you will drive an innovative, co-ordinated approach to global policy/positions, advocacy, campaigns communications and brand identity – building on the success of ‘Because I am a girl.’
The role can be based either at our International HQ in Woking (near London), or in one of our Advocacy offices – New York, Geneva or Brussels.
 Your profile
With proven experience of leading innovative global campaigns, you will be a credible and influential networker, adept at building and sustaining key strategic partnerships on the international stage. Your track record will include developing successful evidence-based policy and advocacy positions that drive, influence and promote internal and external policy change.
You will have a deep understanding of trends in the development and humanitarian sectors, including in particular the sustainable development goals and their implications. You will bring a keen passion for human-rights based approaches, gender equality and inclusion, as well as the role of children and young people as agents of change.
If you wish to have an informal discussion about the role before applying, please contact Gareth Griffiths, Strategic Resourcing Manager at  +44 (0)1483 733296.
