VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
On behalf of Mzumbe University, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill 11 vacant posts as mentioned below; Nafasi za kazi Mzumbe University
1.0 MZUMBE UNIVERSITY (MU)
Mzumbe University was established by the Mzumbe University Charter 2007 (established) Made under section 25 of the Universities Act. No.7 of 2005 which repealed the Mzumbe University Act No. 21 of 2001. Mzumbe University is a public University and operates under the Ministry of Education Science and Technology. The University has over 50 years of experience in training management, administration of justice and good governance.
Mzumbe started in 1953 as a local government school, training chiefs, native authority staff and councilors. After independence, the scope of its activities was expanded to include training of government officials, rural development officers and local court magistrates. In 1971 it was transformed into the Institute of Development Management (IDM) and later in 2006 into a fully-fledged University.
1.1 MEDICAL OFFICER II (2 POSTS)
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Undertakes all medical duties pertaining to internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric diseases and preventive medicine. ii. Supervises wards rounds iii. Attends general outpatient clinics iv. Performs any duties as may be assigned by superior
1.1.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Medical Degree from a recognized University plus successful completion of Internship period of one year in one of consultant hospital and has provisional registration as a Medical Office with the Tanganyika Medical Council.
1.1.3 REMUNERATION
Salary scale PMGSS 7.1
1.2 ASSISTANT MEDICAL OFFICER II -(1 POST)
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Handles general diseases, ii. Gives direct medical care to patients, iii. Assigns responsibilities to clinical officers, iv. Makes ward rounds, v. Performs any other duties as assigned by superior.
1.2.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized Institution and must have been registered with Tanganyika Medical Board. Nafasi za ajira Mzumbe University 2018
1.2.3 REMUNERATION

1.3 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN II- (1 POST)
1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Solves simple problems in the laboratory from the patient; ii. Plans, organizes and directs some of the laboratory services; iii. Prepare reagents; iv. Keeps accurate and up to date laboratory records.
1.3.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Form IV/VI with a Diploma in medical Laboratory Technician from a recognized Institution.

1.4 HEALTH ATTENDANT II- (1 POST)
1.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Maintains cleanliness of the infrastructure including floors, walls, windows lockers, toilets bathrooms and surroundings, as well as making beds and tiding rooms and wards; ii. Ferries and distributes food to patients; iii. Assists nurses in administering drugs, dressing wounds and administration of intramuscular injections only; iv. Monitors and records temperature, blood pressure and purse; v. Takes Specimen;
vi. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by superior.
1.4.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Form IV/VI Certificate who has completed one year pre-nursing course from a recognized Nursing Training Centre
1.4.3 REMUNERATION
Salary Scale PMOSS 1.1
1.5 CLINICAL OFFICER II- (1 POST)
1.5.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Makes proper diagnosis of disease; ii. Prescribes treatments; iii. Treats wounds; iv. Gives first aid of MCH problems; v. Gives anesthesia during operations; vi. Attends general outpatient clinics; vii. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by superior.
1.5.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Form IV/VI Certificate plus a Diploma in clinical medicine from a recognized institution.
1.5.3 REMUNERATION
Salary Scale PMGSS 1.1
1.6 NURSING OFFICER II-(2 POSTS)
1.6.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Understands and solves problems of patients in line with nursing ethics and general nursing services; ii. Supervises Nursing Assistants and Trained Nurses/Midwives; iii. Orders drugs from the Health Centre/Hospital stores; iv. Looks after D.D.A Box; v. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by superior.
1.6.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Form IV/VI Certificate plus a Diploma in Nursing from recognized Institution and registered with Tanzania Nursing Council.
1.6.3 REMUNERATION
Salary Scale PMGSS 1.1
1.7 TRAINED NURSE/MIDWIFE II- (1 POST)
1.7.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Performs general nursing care of patients; ii. Performs maternal and child care services; iii. Administers drugs and treatment as prescribed by the medical Officers; iv. Provides health education on family planning, nutrition, vaccination, sanitation and child spacing; v. Monitors pregnancy development; vi. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by superior.
1.7.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Form IV/VI certificate plus a Nurse/Midwife certificate or Public Health nurse Certificate from a recognized institution.

1.8 PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNICIAN II-(1 POST)
1.8.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Advising patients on the general consumption of drugs ; ii. Dispensing drugs to patients; iii. Ordering, maintaining and scrutinizing the validity of drugs; iv. Assist in collecting necessary information required in preparing annual estimates for drugs and other relevant equipments; v. Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by one’s superior
1.8.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Pharmacy from any recognized Institution.
1.8.3 REMUNERATION

1.9 HEALTH ADMINISTRATOR II-(1 POST)
1.9.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Deal with Health staff service as may be assigned by the Medical Officer In charge of the Health Centre; ii. Compiles personal particulars for new health staff; iii. Allocates human resources, specifies and communicates conditions of service to Health staff; iv. Prepares human resource planning and training programmes for the Health Centre; v. Assists in collecting, analyzing and presenting human resource statistics; vi. Assists in conducting staff performance appraisal; vii. Assists in the provision of administrative service; viii. Performs any other duties assigned by superior.
1.9.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree or Advanced Diploma in Health service or Equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
1.9.3 REMUNERATION
Salary Scale PGSS 6
