Job Title: LABORATORY TECHNICIANS/SHIFT CHEMIST

Level: L6B

Reports To: QUALITY MANAGER

Context/Scope

SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002, and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

SBL operates in a competitive environment and in a vast geography. The main player in the beer industry is Tanzania Breweries Ltd. (TBL), a subsidiary of SABMiller. Inflation rates remain high in Tanzania and average income per capita is less than 1 USD per day. The GDP growth is estimated at 7% and is expected to grow to 7.5% as investment, gold production, trade and tourism pick up. There is growing consumer affluence and consumerism, giving rise to greater opportunities in our product categories.

Leadership Responsibilities

Control production activities from Brewing to Bottling

Purpose Of Role

Running out into brewery referring all quality aspects of our products-ensuring compliance to standards.

Top 3-5

Accountabilities

Do calibration of Laboratory equipment and machines accordingly and ensure that they are clean.
Do laboratory sample analysis according to standards and procedures.
Prepare and compile daily reports.
Ensuring materials, glassware and other consumables are not out of stocks.
Comply with Environmental, health and safety regulations – Safety leadership being the role models.

Qualifications And Experience Required

Diploma and Above. Preferably Bsc. in Chemistry or Chemical and Process Engineering, Food Science and Technology or Biochemistry.
