Job Purpose

To strategically manage, local and global bid responses for and on behalf of Enterprise Business Unit. Key accountabilities are:
Bid Manager is responsible for ensuring that the bid has appropriate sign off before being submitted, including that all formal financial and commercial governance has been followed.
The Bid Manager is the honest broker, balancing the customer and sales objectives, with the need to make an adequate return and to manage risk to the business.
 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1             Manage Impact on the business:
  • Responsible for supporting the Sales team in building the Bid Strategy and then driving this through to completion
  • Bringing thought leadership and experience of previous opportunities to the team to influence the Bid Strategy and approach to the customer
  • Responsible with setting and maintenance of simple to complex contracts and SLA templates with the help of Legal team.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the proper governance has been followed and that all stakeholders necessary have approved all risks involved with Bidding and Contracting.
2             Customers, supplier and third parties
  • Working closely with the Local and Global Sales teams, Operating Companies, Partners and Affiliates and directly with the customer where necessary, to understand their stated and underlying requirements in order to ensure that our solutions meet their requirements and the value proposition is well explained
  • Understanding and experience of formal sales methodologies and their advantages
3             Leadership and Teamwork
  • The Bid Manager leads the virtual bid team –responsible for ensuring the team understand the strategy and their role in delivering that strategy
  • Work cross borders where necessary with our Operating Companies, Partners and Affiliates to ensure delivery of timely Bid processes turn into customer opportunities
4             Innovation and change
  • The Bid Manager should proactively share best practice with the Bid Team and the wider Commercial Team in order that the Bid Process is in a state of continuous improvement.
5             Knowledge and experience
  • Bid Manager should be experienced in managing complex bids and If not formally qualified then demonstrable experience of a structured approach to Bid Management,
  • Experience of customer negotiating of MSA to signature
  • Communication
  • Bid Manager must be capable and skilled at communicating to C Level, both in writing and verbally.
  • Management of internal stakeholders is vital
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCES
  • Degree in Business Administration, relevant sales experience and analytical skills or its equivalent
•             Be able to manage complex bids with TCV in excess of 1 Billion TZS
•             2 to 3yrs Telecommunications experience would be advantageous;
•             Project knowledge and experience would be advantageous;
•             Strategic thinking
  • Project management using recognized best practice methods and tools
•             Resilient - ability to work independently and under pressure.
