Business Intelligence Analyst
As a member of our Data and Analytics team, the BI Analyst will build our infrastructure and backend capacity of our data visualization tool to enable the creation of insightful analysis and reports for Zola Electric. The BI Analyst will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of our BI tool Looker, enabling and empowering our internal users to create their reports. Besides backend work in the BI tool, the BI Analyst will also perform ad hoc analysis in the Looker frontend, and create reports/dashboards for our internal & external users.
In terms of business reports, there will be a strong focus on analysis and reports related to our products. This includes hardware products (data & reports related to our communication from our hardware devices) and external facing software products.
Position
We need someone who is ambitious, ethical, hardworking and results-oriented. The position will report to the Data & BI Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
Build & maintain Zola’s reporting infrastructure
- Build Zola’s Looker instance, including creating new tables, joins dimensions and measures
- Troubleshoot existing content in Looker
- Develop improved Looker UI & act as administrator for the instance, setting security permissions
- Write, clean & optimise SQL queries and tables
- Respond to alerts, refresh tables and troubleshoot issues
- Learn new data sources that are integrated into our infrastructure
Looker Administration and UI development
- Perform ad hoc data analysis in support of business analytics requests
- QA new table infrastructure and ensure data integrity & consistency
- Follow processes in order to maintain the Looker UI
- Perform general Looker administration tasks (user creation, performance troubleshoot, UI updates, content maintenance,...)
Building and maintaining of Zola’s Data Knowledge Base
- Build and manage OGE data support materials, including but not limited to: data dictionaries, Looker definitions, and other user documentation
- Create and maintain articles on how to access and manipulate data
- Provide training and explanation for stakeholders to enable them to use Looker as effectively as possible
Development of data dashboards
- Develop data visualisations and reports in Looker based on stakeholder requirements
- Respond to requests for change to existing dashboards and reports
- Provide material and documentation that enable stakeholders to understand and interpret reports and dashboards
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Understanding of business intelligence & data analytics
- SQL and database infrastructure knowledge
- Experience with Looker and Lookml, or any other data visualisation tool as a developer
- Proficiency in English
Added Advantage
- Previous experience within the renewable energy sector
- Previous experience setting up an analytics environment to external customers, including but not limited to privacy & data protection
